Tara Jefferson, BA

With a distinguished career spanning two decades in healthcare administration, Tara Y. Jefferson has joined Ortiz Psychotherapy and Consultation Service as the Chief of Operations. Born the eldest of three children and raised in Harlem, Tara was drawn to medicine at an early age. Pivoting from pre-medicine to English in college, then to a non-clinical role in healthcare, she rose to her current senior administrative role in graduate medical education where she coordinates onboarding and events for over 2,000 medical residents and fellows. Her passion and intimate familiarity with mental and behavioral health is grounded in her experiences from college with her mother’s bipolar diagnosis and the repercussions of becoming the primary caretaker to not just her mother but her two younger brothers as well. With the knowledge and experience of working with various departments in three major New York City Health systems, along with her personal experience navigating the often frustrating NY Psychiatric Care system, Tara has joined OrtizPACS to further its commitment of providing quality care to our underserved communities.
